Day 6 - Our last day

Today ended up a wonderfully productive day to do our mission work in the Dominican Republic.  We went to 'Batey Higüeral', a remote area in the midst of sugar cane fields of the country.  The word 'batey' originally comes from the Taino, spoken by the Arawack Indians of the Amazon of South America.  The word eventually migrated into the Caribbean Basin and has been used in the Greater Antilles. It is used to indicate a camp housing the sugar cane workers.  We stopped to set up and work at the local church where we were able to minister to over 100 people with medicine, water purification filter kits, children's vacation bible school.  Tokens of appreciation were given to the local staff for their efforts in support of our mission goals.
